Carlos Alcaraz is currently waiting for the results of tests on his injured wrist before deciding whether to defend his French Open title next month, according to the world number two.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion sustained the injury during the first round of the Barcelona Open earlier this month and subsequently withdrew from the tournament.

Scans revealed that the injury was more severe than initially anticipated, prompting him to skip the Madrid Open as well.

"The next test will be crucial," Alcaraz told Spanish television channel TVE.

"We've been doing everything possible to ensure that this test turns out well. I am trying to be very patient. But we are doing okay; we are just waiting a bit longer."

"We have several tests lined up in the next few days, and then we will assess the injury and determine the next steps," the 22-year-old added.

Alcaraz, who was named Sportsman of the Year at the Laureus Awards on Monday, lost the world number one ranking to Jannik Sinner after being defeated by the Italian in the Monte Carlo Masters final just days before his Barcelona opener.

The French Open is scheduled to begin on May 24 in Paris.

From Rhinestones to Rodeo: How Concert Fashion Became My Ultimate Fan Experience
Over the past year, my concert memories sparkle brighter than stage lights – not just from the performances, but from the showstopping outfits I've crafted to honor my musical heroes. Picture this: me twirling in a bedazzled replica of Taylor Swift's Lover bodysuit, rocking combat jeans like Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, or channeling Gwen Stefani's tartan corset glory. Even Coldplay inspired a lilac crystal-covered top that shimmered like their A Sky Full of Stars. Forget basic band tees – when I queue for hours on Ticketmaster, I'm planning an ensemble worthy of the main act.

Why Crypto Investing Feels Like Walking on Eggshells – And How to Survive It
Investing in cryptocurrency should be exciting, but for many of us, it's more like navigating a minefield blindfolded. No matter how much I learn, the process never feels simple or secure. After years of sticking to major exchanges, I finally dipped my toes into decentralized platforms—only to realize I was completely out of my depth. Every transaction leaves me second-guessing myself, acutely aware that one wrong move could mean irreversible losses with no customer service hotline to call. The
